Blaylock 2nd Masters M80-84
Just over three months after the women’s 100-mile world record was set, Ashley Paulson, a 44-year-old from St. George, Utah, set a new mark on Saturday (21-Feb), running 12:19:34 at the Jackpot 100 Mile in Henderson, Nevada. The race — held just miles from the Las Vegas Strip and serving as the USATF 100 Mile National Championships — saw Paulson break Caitriona Jennings' record, set in November, of 12:37:04 by more than 17 minutes.
Paulson also improved her own American masters (40–44) record from 2024 by 1 hour, 45 minutes, and 12 seconds.
The race was held on a 1.19-mile loop course around a pond in Cornerstone Park.
Paulson needed to average 7:34 per mile to break the record and attacked the pace from the start, running close to 7-minute miles early and building a cushion of roughly 30 minutes by mile 50. Her pace gradually eased into the mid-7-minute range over the final miles, but the early advantage held. Despite late-race fatigue, she maintained enough of the margin to secure the world record. David Blaylock, 83, of Draper, Utah, finished 18th in the men's race and second in the masters M80 division, running 43:13:24.
