Allen, Murphy, and Johnson Capture USATF Mountain Running Titles in Snowbird

The
2024 USATF Mountain Running Championships
were held on Saturday (13-July) at Snowbird Ski Resort in Snowbird, UT. The event served as the Team USA selection race for the upcoming World Mountain & Trail Running Championships in Chiavenna, Italy on October 12.
The 8.7-mile course included 3610 feet of vertical gain.
Twenty-three (23) athletes from USATF Utah were among the 74 competitors in the USATF championship races. Utahns won both the men's and women's titles; claiming four of the six podium spots.
In the men's race,
Christian Allen
, 26, of Orem won as he led a 1-2-3 podium sweep by Utah athletes. His winning time was 1:18:18 as he bested
Hawk Call
, 25 of Orem, and
Zachary Erikson
, 23 of Provo who finished second and third, respectively.
Anthony Williams
, 28, of Salt Lake City finished sixth to nab a top-ten finish.
In the women's race,
Grayson Murphy
, 29, Heber City stopped the clock at 1:36:18, winning by 3 minutes 29 seconds over Rachel Tomajczyk of Arizona.
Alexa Aragon
, 32, of Salt Lake City finished fourth just nine seconds off the podium. Murphy and Aragon were joined in the top ten by
Oakley Olson
, 20, of Morgan and
Janel Zick
, 32, of West Valley City as they finished eighth and tenth, respectively.
Edwin Johnson
, 58, of Sandy won the masters 55-59 title running 2:01:41.
Allen and Murphy each earned automatic Team USA spots for the world championships in October.
