Baird Wins Three Titles at USATF Masters Indoor Championships in Chicago

The 2024 USATF Masters Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday (26-Mar) in Chicago.

Two (2) members of USATF Utah competed in the four-day competition. The athletes - Marsha Baird and Jared Murphy - combined to win three national titles and two runner-up finishes. 

Competing in just her second USATF championships, Baird won the women's 50-54 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, and Pentathlon. In the 60m Hurdles she stopped the clock at 9.94 scoring 88.48 on the age-graded (AG) scoring tables where marks of 80-89 are classified as national-class and marks of over 90 as world-class performances. In the Long Jump she won with a leap of 14-8¾ (73.05 AG). In the 5-event Pentathlon she won with 3603 points. Baird competed in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games representing Trinidad and Tobago.

Murphy finished second in both the men's 25-29 1 mile and 3000m running times of 4:42.52 and 9:26.75, respectively.
