Simmons Smashes National High School 5000m Record

On March 8, at the New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston Daniel Simmons of American Fork won the 5000m setting a new U.S. high school record. His time of 13:38.72 broke the previous record set last year by Tyrone Gorze of Oregon by over 18 seconds.

Simmons performance is #3 all-conidtions all-time, trailing the outdoor times run by Connor Burns (13:37.30) in 2023 and Galen Rupp (13:37.91) in 2004.

Simmons' American Fork High School teammate Benjamin Jaster ran 14:19.95 (#14 all-time indoors) to finish third in the race.
