Murphy, Thompson, Combine To Win Six Titles at USATF Masters Championships in Alabama

Results

Utah athletes delivered strong performances at the 2025 USATF Masters Outdoor Championships, held July 17–20 in Huntsville, Alabama, bringing home multiple national titles and podium finishes. A total of 1,192 athletes from all 50 states competed in the four-day national championship.

Leading the way for the Utahns was Jared Murphy (Run Elite Program), who swept three gold medals in the M30-34 division. Murphy claimed victories in the 10 km Road Race (46:24), 3000m Steeplechase (10:30.80), and 5000m (17:58.25). He added to his busy week with a 5th-place finish in the 800m (2:15.08).

Rod Thompson (M75-79) also had an impressive championship, securing two national titles by winning the 10 km Road Race (49:48) and 5000m (24:09.83). Thompson’s versatility was further on display as he earned 3rd in the 1500m (6:42.14) and 4th in the 800m (3:10.01).

In the field events, Roni Noah (Roni’s Elite TC) struck gold in the W40-44 Long Jump, leaping 5.08m to take the national crown.

Adding to Utah’s medal count, Brent Potter (M35-39) claimed the silver medal in the Javelin Throw, reaching 44.37m.
