Alder, Rimmasch, Turner, Mower Earn All-American Honors at National Junior Olympic Championships in Texas


Utah Results 

The 2024 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships concluded on Sunday (28-Jul) in College Station, Texas. The championships were held on the campus of Texas A&M University.

7571 athletes competed during the seven days of competition that began on Monday (22-Jul). USATF Utah was represented by 21 athletes who competed in 45 individual events.  

USATF Utah clubs represented at the championships were (# of athletes):

The Utahans earned four (4) all-American honors (top eight in each event).

Cadee Alder (unattached) finished third in the Girls 17-18 Javelin. Her best throw was 41.90m (137-05) was just nine inches short of the silver medal. Emily Harbach of Texas was the winner with a mark of 43.66m (143-03). She is now a three-time Junior Olympic all-American (2023-5th, 2022-6th). As a junior at Manti High School she has won three straight Utah 3a state titles in the Javelin.

“I had a great experience at the Junior Olympics in Texas. I was worried about the weather as it was rainy most of the week. The weather and field conditions turned out to be great during the javelin event. Throwing a season best and earning All-American honors was a great way to finish my junior year.  I’m grateful to my coaches and family for all their support!”


Mailey Rimmasch (Unattached) threw a personal best of 35.32m (115-00 to finish fourth in the Girls 13-14 Discus Throw. She improved her personal best, she set in winning the Region 11 championships, by 8 feet 8 inches.

Makiah Turner (JJ ATHLETICS) finished sixth in the Girls 15-16 Heptathlon with a score of 4065 pts. She improved her personal best by 90 points. She also finished 11th in the 400m Hurdles (1:05.24, personal best), 33rd in the 400m (59.07) and 54th in the 200m (26.55).

Crew Mower (Cool Running) finished eighth in the Boys 9-10 400m running 1:03.61. In the qualifying round he ran 1:02.91 to earn his spot in the final. He also finished 37th in the 100m (14.39) and 43rd in the 200m (32.93).

Just missing an all-American finish was Tennyson Buie (Unattached) as he placed ninth in the Boys 13-14    High Jump with a clearance of 1.68m (5-06). He also finished 19th in the Long Jump (18-08
