Mittelstaedt Earns All-American Honors at National Junior Olympics in Indiana

On Saturday (14-Dec), 37 athletes representing three clubs from USATF Utah competed at the
USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships
in Shelbyville, Indiana. The competition was held at the Blue River Cross Country course, the site of numerous NCAA regional and conference championships.
A total of 2922 athletes and 231 teams from across the country competed in the championships.
Races were contested in 6 age divisions (8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18) for boys and girls. The top 25 finishers in each age division earned all-American status and the top 3 teams were awarded championship recognition.
The Wolfpack Running Club Utah had 34 athletes and four teams compete in the championships.
Bethany Mittelstaedt
(Wolfpack Running Club Utah) earned all-American honors as she finished 25th in the 11-12 girls race. Her time on the 3 km course was 11:14. At last year's championships in Kentucky Mittelstaedt finished 58th in the 9-10 division. So despite moving up to a new division this year she improved her finish by 23 places. She led her 11-12 squad to an eighth place team finish with a score of 232 points. The other team scorers were

The best team finish for the Wolfpack Running Club Utah was seventh place by the 9-10 Boys squad. They scored 252 points in the field of 29 teams. The team scorers were

In the largest race of the day with 421 runners, the Wolfpack RC Utah 13-14 boys team finished 21st out of 37 teams. The team scorers were:
