Mantz Sets American Record; Frentheway Wins First U.S. Title at 20 km Championships

Results

USATF Utah athletes delivered a remarkable day at the 2025 USATF 20 km Championships on September 1 in New Haven, Connecticut, highlighted by two national titles and a new American record.

In the men’s race, Conner Mantz (Nike) stole the show with a record-breaking performance. Mantz won the national title in 56:16, setting a new American record and lowering the previous mark of 56:23 that he set earlier this year at the Houston Half Marathon. He was joined by Casey Clinger (Brooks), who placed fifth in 58:05, and Creed Thompson, who finished 11th in 58:51. With three men in the top 12, Utah demonstrated its depth and dominance on the national stage.

The women’s race was equally impressive for Utah. Aubrey Frentheway (Saucony) captured her first U.S. title, breaking the tape in 1:05:36. She was backed by strong performances from Makenna Myler (Asics) in sixth (1:06:44), Savannah Berry in 11th (1:08:08), and Hannah Branch in 14th (1:09:08), giving Utah four women among the top 15 finishers.

With individual titles in both races and multiple athletes inside the top tier, Utah’s contingent in New Haven underscored the state’s reputation as one of the nation’s premier hubs for elite distance running.
