Utah athletes delivered a strong showing at the 2026 USATF Outdoor Championships, held July 23-26 at Icahn Stadium in New York City. The championships marked the 150th edition of the event and its first return to New York City since 1991, with Utah competitors earning one runner-up finish, one bronze medal, and several top-10 performances across distance, middle-distance, hurdles, and sprint events.
Leading the way was Grant Fisher (NIKE), who earned a runner-up finish in the men's 10,000m with a time of 30:14.46. Fisher added another national podium finish to his accomplished career while helping pace a strong championship for Utah's distance contingent.
Joining Fisher on the podium was Meghan Hunter, who captured the bronze medal in the women's 800m after crossing the finish line in 1:59.67.
Utah athletes also produced an impressive collection of top-eight performances. Daniel Michalski narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish in the men's 3,000m steeplechase (8:17.78), while Jaslyn Gardner placed fifth in the women's 100m with a time of 11.03. Courtney Wayment (NIKE Swoosh TC) added a fifth-place finish in the women's 3,000m steeplechase (9:19.90), and James Corrigan (Run Elite Program) finished seventh in the men's 3,000m steeplechase (8:21.05).
Additional notable performances included Sami Oblad, who placed ninth in the women's 400m (52.66), and Carlee Hansen, who finished 10th in the women's 1,500m (4:12.64).
